OUR STORY

Superior Wildlife Rehab and Education Center is a licensed wildlife rehab facility located in the Upper Peninsula of MI.  We specialize in the rehabilitation of orphaned/injured fawns and mammals. We are a nonprofit organization and our ability to admit wildlife solely depends on the donations and support of our community.

PLEASE NOTE:

We do not admit adult wildlife for rehab.  We are not licensed to rehab birds. Contact U.P. Wildlife Rehabilitation at 906-370-3825 or Keweenaw Wild Bird REC at

906-299-2149.  â€‹

It is illegal in the state of MI to admit bats and skunks for rehabilitation.  Contact your local DNR for help with these wilds.

DONATE

Please consider supporting our organization by donating or sponsoring the rehabilitation of one of our wild babies.  Most of these animals are with us for months before they are released.  Their nutritional needs, enclosures  and medications are expensive.  Some of these babies have life-threatening injuries and need veterinary care, medication, and/or surgery.  The majority of Finders (the humans who come across an orphaned or injured baby wild and try to find it help) do not contribute to their rehab.  If you have the means we would appreciate your support.  Every little bit helps!

  • A person may capture and transport a sick, injured, or orphaned wild animal to a permitted wildlife rehabilitator, licensed veterinarian, or department employee (dnr), but only after contacting the facility, licensed veterinarian, or department employee to confirm the wild animal will be accepted. Prior to transport, no care may be provided to a wild animal, except as directed by a permitted wildlife rehabilitator, veterinarian, or department employee.

  • A person has 24 hours Monday-Friday and 48 hours Saturday- Sunday to capture and transport the sick, injured or orphaned wild animal to a wildlife rehabilitator, licensed veterinarian, or department employee.

EDUCATION

Education

Superior Wildlife Rehab & Education Center

is dedicated to educating our community on

NORMAL wild life behavior, especially between

mom and baby.  Over 50% of the wild babies admitted to wildlife rehab facilities through out the state are needlessly orphaned by the good intentions of people who are uneducated about normal wildlife behavior. Our goals for the future include the development of educational programming to support community informational classes held at our facility.  We are also working to create consistent supervised training for new licensed wildlife rehabilitators in the U.P.

SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION

If you are interested in scheduling a wildlife slide show presentation with us or would like more information, please email me. We ask that a donation is made to the wildlife center as compensation for the presentation. The $ amount is up to you.

COMMUNITY CLASSES

Program development is in the works. Stay tuned...

VOLUNTEERS/REHABBER TRAINING

As our center grows, we will be looking for volunteers!  Please check back for volunteer oppertunities and rehabber training.
